A Sudanese paramilitary commander, Abu Lulu (real name Al-Fateh Abdullah Idris), has reportedly executed over 2,000 civilians in El-Fasher, North Darfur, becoming a symbol of the massacres carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The RSF, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), captured El-Fasher last week amid the ongoing conflict with the Sudanese army that began in April 2023. Video footage shows Abu Lulu shooting civilians at point-blank range, earning him the nickname “Butcher of El-Fasher.”

Abu Lulu, a close associate of Hemedti and member of the Mahariya Rizeigat tribe, joined the RSF in 2013 after military training. His family ties helped him rise rapidly, serving in special forces and participating in operations in Yemen before moving to RSF intelligence.

During the civil war, he acted as a guard for Abdelrheem Dagalo, Hemedti’s brother, who faced international sanctions in September 2023 for war crimes. Abu Lulu also fought in Khartoum, overseeing executions and killing hostages.

In El-Fasher, he admitted on a TikTok live stream that he personally killed thousands of civilians, stating: “I wanted to kill 2,000, but I'm sure the number exceeded 2,000, but I got confused about the calculation.”
