Chris Brown Ordered to Remain in Custody on Nightclub Attack Charges

London judge rejects singer's bail request, says he must stay in custody until June 13 hearing, which jeopardizes his upcoming European tour

Chris Brown was ordered to remain in custody on the “extremely serious” charges related to an alleged nightclub attack in February 2023, a London judge ruled at a bail hearing Friday.

On Thursday morning, Brown was arrested in Manchester, England on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm in connection to the incident where the singer allegedly beat a music producer Amadou “Abe” Diaw with a tequila bottle and then stomped on him, resulting in a hospitalization and, later, a $16 million lawsuit related to the attack.

Despite Brown’s lawyer arguing that Brown wasn’t a flight risk, Judge Joanne Hirst rejected his bail request at a hearing Friday and ordered that he remain in custody until his next hearing on June 13 in London.
